U.S. Housing Starts Down 30% in April
U.S. housing starts in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 891,000, down 30.2% from the revised March estimate and 29.7% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts decreased 25.4% from March to 650,000.
U.S. building permits in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.074 million, falling 20.8% from March and declining 19.2% from the same month in 2019. Single-family authorizations dropped 24.3% from March to 669,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
