U.S. Home Size Increases in Q1

The square footage of new U.S. single-family homes expanded in the first quarter. The median single-family square footage rose 1.7% from the previous quarter in 2019 to 2,291, after trending downward for four years. The higher number is partially attributed to the COVID-19 pandemic where buyers are seeking larger homes to accommodate home offices, gyms and other purposes. See NAHB
