2019 Safety Award Recipients Announced
CPA traditionally recognizes Safety Award Recipients during the Chairman’s Dinner at the annual Spring Meeting. With the cancelation of the 2020 Spring Meeting, CPA would like to recognize the 2019 Safety Award Recipients through this issue of @the edge. Awards will be distributed in person at the next annual meeting. Awards are given to participating manufacturing plants with exemplary safety records, including acknowledgments for long-term, annual, safety improvement and safety achievement. For each award, plants are categorized by low worker-hours (Class I) and high-worker hours (Class II).
The awards for the best long-term safety record over the past three (3) years are awarded to West Fraser-WestPine MDF, Quesnel, British Columbia (Class I) and Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, Roaring River, North Carolina (Class II).
The annual safety awards for having the lowest incident rate in their class for 2019 are awarded to Woodgrain Composites, La Grande, Oregon for Class I plants, and Louisiana-Pacific, Roaring River, North Carolina for Class II plants.
Two (2) plants recognized for safety improvement are Panolam Industries, Huntsville, Ontario (Class I) and Roseburg, Simsboro, LA (Class II).
Eight (8) plants are recognized for achieving an incident rate of less than 50% of the industry average over the past three (3) years. Class I plants are Arauco North America, Moncure, North Carolina; Arauco North America, Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, and West Fraser-WestPine MDF, Quesnel, British Columbia. Class II plants are Arauco North America, Malvern, Arkansas; Arauco North America, Bennettsville South Carolina; Uniboard Canada, Mont Laurier, Quebec; Tafisa Canada Inc., Lac-Megantic, Quebec and Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, Roaring River, North Carolina.
CPA congratulates all companies and personnel whose exceptional records and commitment to safety earned these prestigious awards.
