Canadian Building Permits Decrease in March

Canadian building permits in March fell 13.2% from February to $7.4 billion (CAD) and were down 11.4% from the year-ago period.  March residential authorizations dropped 13.1% from the prior month to $4.6 billion and were 3.1% below the comparable month in 2019.  Single-family totals fell 15.3% from February to $2.2 billion but rose 3.6% from the prior year.  Multi-family levels shrunk 11.1% in March to $2.5 billion and were 8.3% lower than the same month in 2019.  See Statistics Canada
