NAHB Redesigns Remodeling Market Index for Q1 2020

The NAHB announced the re-design of the Remodeling Market Index as of Q1 2020. The new index was designed to ease the burden on respondents and improve the ability to track and analyze remodeling trends. Respondents now rate five remodeling market components as good, fair or poor on a scale of 0 to 100, where a score of 50 indicates a viewpoint of conditions as good rather than poor. The index for Q1 registered at 48. The Current Conditions Index was at 58, while the Future Conditions Index was 39. An additional component to the index asks how the overall market compares in your area compared to three months ago, which resulted in an index score of 24. These low scores are a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the NAHB. See NAHB
