Mexico Issues Decree on Essential Businesses

This week, the Mexican federal government issued in the Diario Oficial a health emergency declaration that named a list of essential businesses, including “agroindustry” among other sectors.  CPA understands that the Mexican Government has defined agroindustry to include the following (translated from Spanish):

Economic activity that comprises the production, industrialization and distribution of agricultural-livestock, forest and other natural resources products.

As a result, CPA understands composite wood panel manufacturers have been able to continue production for the moment.  The decree also includes broad language related to industries “necessary for the conservation, maintenance and repair of the critical infrastructure that ensures the production and distribution of essential services,” which could allow for greater flexibility for sectors not explicitly listed.  See Diario Oficial Decree.  More Info: Jackson Morrill
