U.S. Housing Starts Down in February

U.S. housing starts in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.6 million, down 1.5% from the revised January estimate but 39.2% higher than the comparable month last year.  Single-family housing starts increased 6.7% from January to 1.07 million.

U.S. building permits in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.46 million, falling 5.5% from January but up 13.8% from the same month in 2019.  Single-family authorizations rose 1.7% above January to 1.0 million.  See U.S. Census Bureau
