Mexico Manufacturing Down in January
The IHS Markit Mexico Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) was 49.0 in January, up 1.9 points from December 2019, which was the lowest recording in the nearly nine-year history of the survey. Though the PMI still indicates a contraction, business confidence was at an eight-month high. A reading above 50 indicates growth.
The PMI index is composed of five sub-indices tracking changes in new orders, output, employment, suppliers' delivery times and stocks of raw materials. See IHS Markit
