U.S. Consumer Sentiment Rises in January

The U.S. consumer sentiment index for January was 99.8, rising 0.5% from December 2019, according to the University of Michigan’s Survey of Consumers. Sentiment also increased 9.4% when compared to January 2019. The index measuring current economic conditions dropped 1.0% from December to 114.4, but was 5.1% higher than the same month the year prior. Consumer expectations in January rose 1.8% from December to 90.5 and were up 13.3% in a year-over-year comparison. See University of Michigan
