U.S. Furniture Orders Down in October
U.S. furniture factory orders in October dropped 8% from the same month in 2018, according to Smith Leonard’s survey of residential furniture manufacturers and distributors. New orders decreased for nearly 70% of survey participants. Year-to-date new orders were 2% lower than the comparable period in 2018, a decline for 73% of respondents.
Shipments rose 6% from October 2018, representing an increase for 58% of those surveyed. Year-to-date shipments were even with the year-ago period. See Smith Leonard
