Canadian Building Permits Post Mixed Results in October

Canadian building permits in October totaled $8.28 billion, falling 1.5% from September but up 1.1% from the comparable month last year.  Residential permits decreased 3.2% from the previous month to $4.95 billion and were down 5.7% from the year-ago period.  Single-family authorizations dropped 2.9% from September to $2.13 billion, and non-residential levels were down 3.4% to $2.82 billion compared to the prior month.  Non-residential permits were up 1.1% from September at $3.3 billion and exceeded October 2018 permits by 13.2%.  See Statistics Canada
