U.S. Housing Starts Up in October

U.S. housing starts in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.31 million, up 3.8% from the revised September estimate and 8.5% higher than the comparable month last year.  Single-family housing starts rose 2.0% from September to 936,000.

U.S. building permits in October were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.46 million, increasing 5.0% from the previous month and up 14.1% from the year-ago period in 2018.  Single-family authorizations were 3.2% higher than September at 909,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
