Canadian Building Permits Down in September

Canadian building permits in September totaled $8.3 billion, falling 6.5% from August but up 2.1% from the comparable month last year.  Residential permits decreased 10.7% from the previous month to $5.1 billion, with single-family authorizations down 8.7% to $2.19 billion and multi-family levels dropping 12.1% to $2.9 billion from August.  Non-residential permits rose 0.9% in September to $3.2 billion.  See Statistics Canada
