U.S. Furniture Factory Orders Down

U.S. furniture factory orders in August were down 3% from the same month in 2018, according to Smith Leonard’s survey of residential furniture manufacturers and distributors.  New orders fell for 67% of survey participants.  Year-to-date new orders dropped 2% from the comparable period in 2018, a decrease for 73% of participants. 

Shipments declined 6% from August 2018, representing a drop for 70% of those surveyed.  Year-to-date shipments dipped 1% lower than the year-ago period, resulting in a decrease for 64% of respondents.  See Smith Leonard
