Manufacturing Institute’s Labor Initiatives Reach Veterans and Women

The Manufacturing Institute has two major initiatives underway to address labor shortages in manufacturing. The “Heroes MAKE America” campaign aims to reach military service men and women transitioning to civilian life by providing training and certifications for a career in manufacturing.  The programs are approved through the Department of Defense SkillBridge Program.

Additionally, the Institute continues to grow its STEP initiative “to support women in science, engineering, production and technology careers.” According the Institute, women represent only 29% of the manufacturing workforce compared to 47% overall.  To date, the program has honored 932 women who are making a difference in their companies and communities.  See Heroes MAKE America and Women in Manufacturing
