U.S. Construction Spending Rises in August

U.S. construction spending in August was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.287 trillion, rising 0.1% from July but still 1.9% lower than the year ago period.  Year-to-date spending was down 2.3% from 2018 to $851.3 billion in 2018.

Private construction spending was roughly even with July at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $955 billion.  Residential levels increased 0.9% from the previous month to $507.2 billion, and non-residential totals decreased 1.0% from July to $447.9 billion  See U.S. Census Bureau
