U.S. Architectural Billings Flat in July

The Architecture Billings Index (ABI) in July increased 1.0 point to 50.1, according to The American Institute of Architects (AIA) Economics & Market Research Group. Billings decreased in all geographic regions except for the West, which reported a 1.9 point increase in July to 51.2. Firms specializing in multifamily reported slight growth in billings, with all other specializations reporting decreases.

The ABI is produced from the AIA’s monthly Work-on-the-Boards survey, which measures whether architectural firms’ “billings increased, decreased, or stayed the same for the month ended.” A score lower than 50 indicates a decline in billings from the preceding period. See AIA
