U.S. Construction Spending Down

U.S. construction spending in July was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.29 trillion, rising 0.1% from June but still falling 2.7% lower than the year ago period. Year-to-date spending was down 2.1% from 2018 to $733.8 billion.

Private construction spending fell 0.1% from June to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $963.1 billion. Residential levels were up 0.6% from the previous month to $506.7 billion, and non-residential totals decreased 0.8% from June to $456.4 billion. See U.S. Census Bureau
