U.S. Housing Starts Mixed in June

U.S. housing starts in June were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.25 million, 0.9% lower than the revised May estimate but were up 6.2% from the comparable month in 2018.  Single-family starts rose 3.5% from May to 847,000.

Building permits in June were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.22 million, falling 6.1% from the revised May rate and dropping 6.6% from the same period last year.  Single-family authorizations in June were 813,000, up 0.4% from the revised May totals. See U.S. Census Bureau
