Green Globes Revised Standard for Commercial Buildings Finalized
On June 13, the Green Building Initiative (GBI) announced the finalization of ANSI-GBI 01-2019: Green Globes Assessment Protocol for Commercial Buildings, a revision to the organization’s standard that was first published in 2010. The 2019 version updates key criteria to align with new technology and market advances, while maintaining flexibility on how buildings earn credits.
The Green Globes rating system is unique to other green building standards in that it is developed through an ANSI-audited consensus process. As part of the ANSI approval, GBI commits to “continuous maintenance” by updating the standard every two years to keep pace with market advances. Therefore, proposed changes can be submitted at any time.
CPA plans to join the standard’s Technical Advisory Group (TAG) and will monitor and submit comments as needed through the continuous maintenance process. Interested mills are encouraged to join the TAG as well. See Green Building Initiative. More Info: Eamon Monahan
