U.S. Housing Starts Higher in April
U.S. housing starts in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.24 million, up 5.7% from the revised March estimate, but down 2.5% the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts rose 6.2% from March to 854,000.
U.S. building permits in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.3 million, rising 0.6% from March, but 5% lower than the same month in 2018. Single-family authorizations fell 4.2% below March to 782,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
