Canada’s Carbon Tax Impacts Trucking Costs in Four Provinces

The Environment and Climate Change Canada’s (ECCC) fuel levy, implemented April 1, is also increasing the price of diesel in Ontario, New Brunswick, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.  The increase is estimated to be approximately $0.054 (CAN) per liter and will rise to $0.134 per liter by 2022. The Canadian Trucking Alliance estimates that the surcharge will increase the cost of operating a long-haul truck by $3,500 per year. See Freight Waves
