U.S. Housing Starts Down in February
U.S. housing starts in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.16 million, 8.7% lower than the revised January estimate and down 9.9% from the comparable month in 2018. Single-family starts were down 17% from January to 805,000.
Building permits in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.3 million, falling 1.6% from the revised January rate and dropping 2% from the same time last year. Single-family authorizations in February were unchanged at 821,000 from the revised January totals. See U.S. Census Bureau
