U.S. Construction Spending Down in December

U.S. construction spending in December 2018 was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.29 trillion, down 0.6% from November but up 1.6% from the comparable month last year. 2018 spending rose 4.1% above the year-ago period in 2017 to $1.3 trillion.

Private construction spending decreased 0.6% from November to $991 billion. Residential levels fell 1.4% in December to $537 billion, and non-residential totals were up 0.4% from November at $453 billion. See U.S. Census Bureau
