The 2019 U.S. Houzz Kitchen Trends Study recently released findings on planned kitchen renovations based on a survey of 1,337 homeowners conducted in September and October of 2018. The study found engineered choices, including laminate, now comprise 40% of all remodeled kitchen flooring, while hardwood declined 8% since 2017. Laminate flooring increased in popularity by 3% during that period, accounting for 11% of all kitchen flooring choices.

Ninety-three percent of renovations planned or recently replaced countertops, while cabinets were included in 78% of remodels. White cabinets remained the number one choice at 43%, with wood finishes at 25% and gray increasing in popularity by 2% to 11% of remodels. Custom cabinetry was the preferred choice for 41% of respondents, while 33% selected semi-custom. Transitional style kitchens experienced the largest decrease in popularity, dropping 5% from 2018 to 21%, while farmhouse style saw the largest increase of 2% to 14% for 2019. See Houzz
