U.S. Housing Starts Up in November

U.S. housing starts in November were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.3 million, up 3.2% above the revised October estimate, but down 3.6% from the comparable month in 2017. Single‐family housing starts fell 4.6% from October to 824,000.

Building permits in November were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.3 million, up 5% from the revised October rate and 0.4% higher than the year-ago period. Single‐family authorizations increased 0.1% from the prior month to 848,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
