U.S. Construction Spending Up for Year
U.S. construction spending in October was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.3 trillion, down 0.1% from September but up 4.9% from the comparable month last year. Year-to-date spending rose 5.1% above the year-ago period in 2017 to $1.1 trillion.
Private construction spending declined 0.4% from September to $998.7 billion. Residential levels fell 0.5% in September to $541.7 billion, and non-residential totals were down 0.3% from September to $459.7 billion. See U.S. Census Bureau
