U.S. Construction Spending Up
U.S. construction spending in September was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.3 trillion, even with August but up 7.2% from the comparable month last year. Year-to-date spending rose 5.5% above the year-ago period in 2017 to $982.9 billion.
Private construction spending grew 0.3% from August to $1.0 trillion. Residential levels rose 0.6% in September to $556.4 billion and non-residential totals were up 0.1% from August to $463.9 billion. See U.S. Census Bureau
