NAFTA Agreement Reached

Earlier this week, the U.S., Canada and Mexico reached agreement on a revised version of NAFTA, which has been renamed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).  The agreed to text will need to be ratified by each country, which could take more than a year to complete before the agreement can enter into force.  Elections in the U.S. this November and Canada’s national elections in the fall of 2019 pose potential roadblocks in moving the agreement forward.  CPA is reviewing the revised draft to identify any changes that could impact the industry and will update members as needed.  See USMCA Text, USTR Fact Sheets and The Washington Post.  More Info: Jackson Morrill
