U.S. Furniture Factory Orders Trend Upward

U.S. furniture factory orders in July were 5% higher than the same month in 2017, according to Smith Leonard’s survey of residential furniture manufacturers and distributors. New orders increased for 57% of survey participants. Year-to-date orders were 6% ahead of the comparable period in 2017, an increase for 68% of participants.  Shipments rose 6% in July compared to last year, up for 66% of those surveyed.  Year-to-date shipments totaled 3% higher than the year ago period, rising for 68% of participants.
