U.S. Housing Starts Rise in August

U.S. housing starts in August were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.3 million, up 9.2% from the revised July estimate and 9.4% higher the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts rose 1.9% from June to 876,000.

U.S. building permits in August were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.2 million, 5.7% below July and 5.5% lower than the same month in 2017. Single-family authorizations fell 6.1% below July to 820,000.  See U.S. Census Bureau
