Houzz Canada Survey Finds Top Renovation Trends

Houzz, a social media platform for home remodeling and design, released their 2018 Canada Houzz & Home Renovation Trends study that surveyed over 14,288 Canadian home owners about their renovation plans.  The study focused on a review of 2017 and outlook for 2018.

Kitchens and bathrooms were listed as the most frequently renovated part of a home in 2017, with 28% of homeowners reporting renovations to their kitchens and 24% renovating their guest bathrooms. Kitchens also topped the list as the most expensive room to renovate, with homeowners spending a median of $12,000 for a kitchen over 8 square meters. Large master bathrooms were the second most expensive renovations, with homeowners spending a median of $7,000 for bathrooms larger than 5 square meters.

Renovations in 2018 are expected to be strong, with 50% of homeowners planning to renovate their existing home and 47% planning to redecorate or furnish in 2018.  See Houzz
