Consumer Sentiment Down in August

The U.S. consumer sentiment index for August was 96.2, falling 1.7% from July, according to the University of Michigan’s Survey of Consumers. Sentiment also decreased 0.6% when compared to August 2017. The index measuring current economic conditions dropped 3.6% from the previous month to 110.3 and was 0.5% lower than the same month the year prior. Consumer expectations in August fell 0.2% from July to 87.1 and were down 0.7% in a year-over-year comparison. See University of Michigan
