U.S. Housing Starts Rise in July

U.S. housing starts in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.17 million, up 0.9% from the revised June estimate but 1.4% below the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts rose 0.9% from June to 862,000, 2.7% higher than July 2017.

U.S. building permits in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.31 million, up 1.5% from June and 4.2% above the same month in 2017. Single-family authorizations rose 1.9% above June at 869,000 and were 6.4% higher than the year prior.  See U.S. Census Bureau
