U.S. Housing Starts Rise in May

U.S. housing starts in May were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.4 million, up 5% from the revised April estimate and 20.3% above the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts rose 3.9% above April to 936,000.

U.S. building permits in May were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.4 million, 4.6% below April but up 8% from the same month in 2017. May single-family authorizations fell 2.2% from April to 844,000.  See U.S. Census Bureau
