SPECIAL FEATURE: Seeking Workforce Solutions

CPA is launching this Special Feature in @the edge to provide members with articles focused on resources, tools and best practices for attracting and retaining workforce talent.  As this feature is developed, members are encouraged to provide input on future topics and examples to be shared as best practices for the industry. 

This inaugural article is the first in a series spotlighting the Dream It. Do It. program through The Manufacturing Institute, a subsidiary 501(c)(3) organization within the National Association of Manufacturing.  The program was created to recruit and retain next-generation workers through a network of professionals dedicated to “engaging and employing today’s students in high quality manufacturing jobs while educating career influencers like parents and educators.” 

The growing network includes 40 programs across 38 states, with many run by state Chambers of Commerce or regional economic or manufacturing-related groups.   Each location is charged with creating innovative programs that bring students, parents and educators together, often in partnership with local employers, to promote manufacturing employment opportunities.  The Manufacturing Institute provides resources and collateral to help support these efforts, but individual network locations are expected to create their own, innovative approaches best suited to the local area.  Members are encouraged to explore these regional opportunities by reaching out to the appropriate contacts in the network directory.  Those members that do not have a network representative in their area may contact Cristina Crawford at The Manufacturing Institute to learn about other available opportunities.
