U.S. Consumer Sentiment Down in April

The U.S. consumer sentiment index for April was 98.8, down 2.6% from March but up 1.9% from the same month in 2017, according to the University of Michigan’s Survey of Consumers. The index measuring current economic conditions fell 5.2% from March to 114.9 but was 2% higher than the year prior. Consumer expectations in April were down 0.5% from the previous month to 88.4 but increased 1.6% in a year-over-year comparison. See University of Michigan
