Consumer Sentiment Highest in 14 Years

The U.S. consumer sentiment index for March was 101.4, up 1.7% from February and 4.6% higher than the comparable month in 2017, according to the University of Michigan’s Survey of Consumers. This is the highest reading since 2004. The index measuring current economic conditions rose to a record level of 121.2, up 5.5% from February and 7.1% higher than March 2017. The consumer expectations index fell 1.3% from February to 88.8 but rose 2.7% in a year-over-year comparison. See University of Michigan
