U.S. Housing Starts Fall
U.S. housing starts in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.24 million, down 7% from the revised January estimate and 4% below the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts rose 2.9% from January to 902,000.
U.S. building permits in February were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.3 million, 5.7% below January but up 6.5% from the same month in 2017. Single-family authorizations fell 0.6% from the previous month to 872,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
