Home Depot Foundation Pledges $50 Million for Skilled Labor Gap

The Home Depot Foundation, Atlanta, GA, will donate $50 million over the next 10 years to develop training programs to ease labor shortages in the construction industry. The Foundation plans to train 20,000 individuals to become, among others, plumbers, electricians and carpenters.  The Labor Department estimates that there are 158,000 construction positions currently vacant, with considerable growth predicted. The Foundation is focusing on training veterans and people in underserved communities.  See The Home Depot
