U.S. Housing Starts Rise in January

U.S. housing starts in January were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.33 million, up 9.7% from the revised December 2017 rate and 7.3% above the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts rose 3.7% from December to 877,000.

U.S. building permits in January were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.4 million, rising 7.4% above both December and the comparable month in 2017. Single-family levels fell 1.7% from December to 866,000.  See U.S. Census Bureau
