California DTSC Issues Draft Priority Product Work Plan
California’s Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) has issued a draft 2018-2020 Priority Product Work Plan for its Safer Consumer Products program. The Work Plan is intended to identify categories from which DTSC will propose future Priority Products that will ultimately be regulated under the Safer Consumer Products regulation. The draft plan identifies seven priority product categories, including household, school and workplace furnishings and building products. In both the furnishings and building products categories, formaldehyde is identified as a candidate chemical. Composite wood products are also mentioned specifically under the description for the building products category.
DTSC will hold a public workshop on February 26 from 10 AM-12 PM PT at the CalEPA building in Sacramento, which can also be viewed online as a webinar. In addition to the opportunity to provide oral comments at the workshop, DTSC will be holding a written comment period through March 9, 2018. CPA is reviewing the materials and will plan to provide comments. See DTSC Work Plan and Webinar Registration. More Info: Jackson Morrill
