IKEA Purchases Forest Acreage in Alabama
IKEA Group, Conshohocken, PA, announced last month their acquisition of 25,000 acres of forest land in Lowndes County, Alabama. Ikea states that this purchase was made to ensure sustainable access to resources, such as energy, raw wood and recycled materials, that are used directly or indirectly in the manufacture of their products. The group already owns approximately 250,000 acres of forest property in Europe, located in Romania and the Baltic States. IKEA plans to partner with Campbell Global to oversee and operate the U.S. forest land.
