U.S. Consumer Sentiment Falls in January

The U.S. consumer sentiment preliminary index for January was 94.4, falling 1.6% from December and down 4.2% from the year-ago period, according to the University of Michigan’s Survey of Consumers. The index measuring current economic conditions decreased 4% from December to 109.2, and fell 1.9% from January 2016. Consumer expectations in January grew 0.6% from the previous month to 84.8, but were down by 6.1% in a year-over-year comparison. See University of Michigan
