U.S. Housing Starts Fall in September
U.S. housing starts in September were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.127 million, down 4.7% from the revised August estimate but 6.1% above than the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts fell 4.6% from August to 829,000.
U.S. building permits in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.215 million, 4.5% below August and down 4.3% from the same month in 2016. Single-family authorizations rose 2.4% above August to 819,000. See U.S. Census Bureau
