U.S. Construction Up in August

U.S. construction spending during August was estimated at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1.218 trillion, 0.5% above the revised July estimate, and 2.5% above the comparable month in 2016.  Year-to-date spending increased 4.7% from the year-ago period to $806.2 billion.

Private construction spending in August rose 0.4% from July to $954.8 billion year-to-date, with residential levels up 0.4% to $520.9 billion and nonresidential increasing 0.5% to $433.9 billion. See U.S. Census Bureau
