Home Improvement Retailers Report Financial Results

The world’s two largest home improvement retailers reported growth in the second quarter. 

The Home Depot, Atlanta, GA, reported net second quarter sales, ending July 31, of $28.1 billion, up 6.2% from 2016.  Quarterly net earnings rose 9.5% to $2.7 billion compared with the same period in 2016. Year-to-date net sales increased 5.6% to $52 billion over the previous year.  Net earnings through July were up 10.4% to $4.7 billion over 2016.  See The Home Depot

The Lowe’s Companies, Mooresville, NC, announced net second quarter sales, ending August 4, grew 6.8% from the second quarter of 2016 to $19.5 billion. Net second quarter earnings totaled $1.4 billion compared to $1.2 billion in the same quarter last year.  Year-to-date net earnings decreased 1.5% from 2016 to $2 billion. For the six month period, net sales increased 8.5% to $36.4 billion from a year ago. See Lowe's Companies
