U.S. Housing Starts Fall in July

U.S. housing starts in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.16 million, down 4.8% from the revised June estimate and 5.6% lower than the comparable month last year. Single-family housing starts fell 0.5% from June to 856,000.

U.S. building permits in July were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.22 million, 4.1% below June but 4.1% higher than the same month in 2016. Single-family authorizations remained even with the revised June figure of 811,000.  See U.S. Census Bureau
