Workforce Education Legislation Advances with Unanimous Support

On May 17, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education in the Workforce unanimously approved the Strengthening Career and Technical Education for the 21st Century Act. This legislation would reauthorize the Perkins Career and Technical Education Act, originally signed into law in 2006, which provides federal support to state and local workforce education programs. The bipartisan bill builds upon current reforms in K-12 education and enhances workforce development programs to provide the skills needed for current in-demand jobs.
