U.S. Building Permits Fall in April

U.S. housing starts in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.172 million, down 2.6% from the revised March rate and 0.7% above the comparable month in 2016. Single-family starts increased 0.4% in April to 835,000.

Building permits in April totaled a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.229 million, 2.5% below the revised March rate and 5.7% higher than the same period a year earlier.  Single-family authorizations were down 4.5% from March totals to 789,000. See U.S Census Bureau
